Every registered building on the Isle of Man

326 buildings and structures on the Island's Protected Buildings Register, registered between 1983 and 2025. No property portal shows this, and it is the single piece of information most likely to change what a buyer is actually buying.

What registration actually means

A registered building is one identified as having special architectural or historic interest under the Town and Country Planning Act 1999. Work to it — alteration, extension, demolition, and often things an ordinary house would need no permission for at all — requires Registered Building Consent from Planning and Building Control on top of any planning permission. That is a real constraint on cost, on timescale and on what a project can be.

Absence from this list is not evidence that a property is unregistered. The register names buildings, not addresses, and this site can only match a name it can see. Registration is also an ongoing process. Confirm anything that matters against the register itself, which is the authoritative record and carries a registration notice for each entry.

The Island also has 21 Conservation Areas, which constrain work in a different way. They are deliberately not listed here: their boundaries are published only as documents this site does not fetch, and a half-parsed list would be worse than none. Planning and Building Control publishes them.

326 buildings match.
